Holy Communion

There will be a short Celebration of Holy Communion following worship on Sunday 17th May at 12.15pm.  All who love the Lord are invited.  We use gluten-free bread and non-alcoholic wine.

Christian Aid Week: 10th – 16th May

70K in May

As a congregation, in our time or as a group, we are aiming to walk, hike, swim or cycle 70 kilometres or more using the Progress Tracker Sheet (available from Lynn) to log your daily distance. We will be keeping a tally of our combined distances each week so please bring along your weekly totals each Sunday to enter onto our chart. This is a sponsored event, so please share this link to our St. Andrew’s West Christian Aid Online Giving page with your family, friends and colleagues so they can sponsor you.

Or, if you prefer to work with cash, you can pick up a paper sponsor sheet , available from the table at the back if the church. There will also be a congregational sponsor sheet if you would like to donate in cash.

In addition to doing 70k in May, Rory will be ‘Bagging a Ben’ and will be climbing Ben Wyvis on 9th May to complete his Munros (he will have climbed all 282 mountains in Scotland over 3000 ft). So please consider sponsoring him using the same link above.

During the first two days only, those participating have clocked up 103 km. Well done and keep going!

Thank You

A BIG thank you to all who donated, baked, shopped, set up, served and cleared lunch and the Baking Stall, had a role in the service, cycled at the Pop Up stall and are still completing the 70k in May challenge.

So far our combined efforts have raised £1,077 (£737 on-line envelope, £135 gift aid envelopes, £120 Baking Stall, £85 Pop Up stall).

An amazing total so far!

Going Home – Catriona Mackenzie

Our choir member, Catriona Mackenzie, is performing a final recital at the Royal Conservative of Scotland (RCS) as part of her Artist’s Diploma on Tuesday 19th May at 7.00pm.

The evening’s programme will celebrate the sounds of Scotland across the centuries, and will include works by Helen Hopekirk, James MacMillan, Marjory Kennedy Fraser, and Rory Boyle. It will feature both classical and contemporary music, instrumental and vocal repertoire, famous tunes and unknown works.

All church friends are more than welcome – tickets, priced at £10.50 (£8.50 aged 60+ and £5.00 aged 26 and under) are available online at the RCS website (www.rcs.ac.uk/whats-on/ and search ‘Catriona Mackenzie’), at the RCS box office, or directly from Catriona.

Funeral Service of Joe Dickie

The Funeral Service of Joe Dickie, a former elder and Boys’ Brigade Captain, will take place at 1.30pm on Thursday 21st May at Clydebank (Dalnotter) Crematorium.

Warm Welcome Space

The next Warm Space will be on Wednesday 20th May 2026, 11.30am-1.30pm.  The Warm Welcome Space will continue every Wednesday morning from 11.30am.  We encourage you all to come along and bring your friends.

Commonwealth Games: 25th July–2nd August 2026

The Commonwealth Games are coming to Glasgow this summer from 25th July to 2nd August.  We will be one of the churches in the ‘Games Corridor’ from Tollcross to Scotstoun.  The athletes and their families will be accommodated in the hotels around the SEC area not far from the church.

We are looking for ideas on what we could offer – perhaps hospitality or opening the sanctuary for visitors and prayer/quiet space.   Of course in order for this to happen, we need volunteers.  Please consider giving your time to welcoming visitors to our lovely building.  If you have ideas or would be available during this time to help out, please speak to Kenny.

Pastoral Care Team

Our recent Congregational Action Plan Survey highlighted the need for more people to join our Pastoral Care Team which is currently running with only one active member!

A Christian Pastoral Care worker is someone who offers care and support to one another in the knowledge of being loved themselves by God and in the hope of sharing that love with others.

If you can make phone calls, visit Care Homes, Sheltered Accommodation or make a home visit, are a good listener, able to show empathy and compassion, are non- judgemental, reliable, a good communicator and able to give a supportive presence, could you spare some of your time to join our Pastoral Care Team?

If so, please speak to Kenny (Session Clerk).  Thank you.

Communications

We operate a congregational-wide email list that keeps you up to date with any church news throughout the week. If you would like to sign up, please email stawpc@gmail.com asking to join.  If you have any news you would like to share, please use the same email address to share it with the list.

Free-Will Offering

As part of worship, a cash free-will offering is taken and uplifted, the proceeds of which directly go to support the life and work of our church. There is no obligation to contribute, and you are more than welcome to simply pass the bag on to your neighbour.

If you would prefer to contribute electronically, then offerings may also be made via the Church bank account.  Details are:

Name of Account: St. Andrew’s West Church

Sort Code: 83-54-60

Account No.: 00245763

Remember that UK taxpayers may increase their giving by 25% using Gift Aid. Please speak to Avril, Gift Aid Convener or Billy, Treasurer for information.

Feedback and Suggestions

We are always keen to hear feedback and suggestions on any aspect of Church life. You can get in touch with the Kirk Session by emailing stawpc@gmail.com.  We will consider all correspondence received at each Kirk Session meeting, which typically occurs once every other month.
