Announcements

Palm Sunday

Next Sunday is Palm Sunday when we have crosses made of palm leaves to remember Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.  This year we will be asking everyone to make a palm cross to take home, but don’t worry – advice and demonstrations will be made so we all know what to do.

Clock Change

Remember that the clocks go forward one hour next Sunday at 1am as we move to British Summer Time.

Warm Welcome Space

The next Warm Space will be on Wednesday 25th March 2026, 11.30am-1.30pm.  The Warm Welcome Space will continue every Wednesday morning from 11.30am.  We encourage you all to come along and bring your friends.

Safeguarding at St. Andrew’s West

It is always good practice to periodically remind ourselves how we, as a congregation, can keep our church a safe place for both children and adults at risk.

The following are some ‘good to know’ points to help us achieve this.

 Safeguarding Posters

  • Our Safeguarding Policy Statement and Poster can be found in the sanctuary, Chapel and Garnethill Room, places where church organisations meet and events take place and on the congregation notice board. (Found opposite the Meeting Room, outside the Flower/Choir room.)

Reporting current or historical harm or abuse. Would you know what to do if you suspected or witnessed this or if it was reported to you?

  • Report immediately to either the Safeguarding Co-ordinator (Evelyn) or one of our Safeguarding Panel members. (Kleber, Kenny, Billy, Eddie.) They will then report to the Church of Scotland Safeguarding Department.
  • Or, in an emergency, report directly to the police or Social Work Department, then to the Safeguarding Co-ordinator or a Panel member.

Pocket Guide

  • Every volunteer or paid worker should have been issued with a Pocket Guide containing the above information. If you have lost or don’t recall receiving one or if you would like one to refer to, please speak to Evelyn.

More information can be found about all the above and other Safeguarding matters on the Church of Scotland and our own church’s websites. Please see links below.

Glasgow 850 – Sponsored Interfaith Walk: Saturday 28th March

Interfaith Glasgow have rescheduled their fund-raising walk which had been planned for October 2025 but was postponed due to severe weather.  This will now take place on Saturday 28th March and will start from here, St Andrew’s West Parish Church at 10.00am.   People of all faiths and none, will come together to walk, learn, connect and celebrate the rich diversity of our city, visiting eight different places of worship along the way.  The walk will finish with a shared community meal at the Sikh Gurdwara in Pollokshields.

For those interested in attending or donating, please go to: https://interfaithglasgow.org/rescheduled-walk-for-unity-walk-for-glasgow/

Interfaith Walk – Volunteers required: Saturday 28th March

St Andrew’s West will be offering refreshments at the start of the Interfaith sponsored walk on 28th March and we are looking for volunteers to help welcome and serve the participants as they gather.  If you could spare some time to help out between 9.00am and 10.30am on the 28th, please speak to Kleber or Lynn.
