Congregational Action Plan – Planning for the Future

At the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 2025, a new system was introduced to replace the Local Church Review process whereby every congregation is required to complete a 5 Year Congregational Action Plan. This Plan should bring together the congregation’s vision for its mission, worship, life and service, taking account of its present position, its capacity and finances.

As a first step, we are asking everyone to complete a Congregational Action Plan Survey which will be anonymous. The survey is designed to help the Kirk Session understand how the congregation views the current state of our church, in order to build our 5 year Action Plan in the most effective way. Paper copies of the survey are available over the next few Sundays, and it is also available electronically by request to stawpc@gmail.com. Once complete, please drop it into the box in the sanctuary on any Sunday, or email a completed electronic copy, up to, and including, 1st March.

If you have any difficulty in completing this survey, please contact stawpc@gmail.com or speak to Grant Henderson.

Warm Welcome Space

The next Warm Space will be on Wednesday 4th March 2026, 11.30am-1.30pm.  The Warm Welcome Space will continue every Wednesday morning from 11.30am.  We encourage you all to come along and bring your friends.

St. Andrew’s West Walking Group

The next walk will take place on Saturday 28th February.  We will be doing a city walking tour in Edinburgh.   Meet at Queen Street Station at 9.50am to get the 10am train to Edinburgh Waverley.   If you would be interested in coming along, please speak to Rory and he can add you to the WhatsApp Group.

World Day of Prayer

We are invited to join Partick Victoria Park Church for the World Day of Prayer service on Friday, 6th March, for the service at 2.00pm, followed by tea and biscuits.

Tabeetha School Evening | Kelvin West Parish Church, University Avenue, Glasgow | Thursday 12th March at 7.30pm

You are invited to come along to Kelvin West Church to hear the story of Tabeetha School, a community of hope and peace since 1863.  Tabeetha is the Church of Scotland’s School in Jaffa – Tel Aviv, bringing together Christian, Jewish and Muslim children who learn, grow and build friendships together each day.  In a complex and divided context, peaceful coexistence is not a slogan but a way of life.  Speakers: Muriel Pearson, former Chaplain to Tabeetha and Kate Freedman, Development Officer and former Head of Primary at Tabeetha.  All Welcome.  Free event.  Refreshments provided.

This is one of the charities which St Andrew’s West has been supporting for a number of years through our ‘wee kirks’ collection boxes.’

Rising costs and the challenges of the conflict have placed the school under financial pressure.  Though their long term future is secure, immediate help is vital to continue providing a safe, inclusive Christian environment for learning and reconciliation in the Holy Land.  To learn more visit: www.tabeethaschool.org/donation-page or contact their Development Officer kfreedman@churchofscotland.org.uk

I will be happy to purchase tickets for any Church members  and their friends who would like to support Catriona on this important part of her Music Course. Cash with Orders any week after the Service.

Money for Nothing

When we give an offering to God through St Andrew’s West Parish Church either weekly through our envelopes, in cash or through the bank we use these funds to do the Lord’s work here.  But imagine if you gave £80 each month and the church receives £100!  You can with Gift Aid.

If you pay income tax then the church can claim the tax you have already paid on your offering, increasing it by 25%.  There is no cost to you.  This extra gift makes a big difference to our finances.  If you have not given by Gift Aid before and pay income tax please see me and I will give you a form to fill in.  You don’t need to provide your bank account details.  If your circumstances change Gift Aid can be cancelled immediately.  If you already give using Gift Aid you don’t need to do anything.

The easiest way to give is monthly (or weekly) by Standing Order to the Church bank account.  Everyone can do this whether you pay income tax or not.  Here are the church bank account details:

Name of Account: St. Andrew’s West Church

Sort Code: 83-54-60

Account No.: 00245763

“You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly.”
