We have several groups within our congregation who keep busy through the week…
Boy’s Brigade
The 93rd Glasgow Company meets every Friday between September and May in the Garnethill Hall at Church except between Christmas and New Year. We are part of the worldwide Boys’ Brigade, both through Scotland and locally through the Glasgow Battalion.
We offer a variety of activities within the national development programme of The Boys’ Brigade for Boys aged between 6 – 16 in a relaxed, fun and safe environment.
For more information, please contact: 93gcbb@gmail.com
We also host an ex-members organisation, who regularly host fundraising events for our current company.

Walking Group
St Andrew’s West has a thriving walking group of all abilities and distances.
The idea for its formation came out of a conversation one Sunday morning with some folks’ who were interested in getting to know Glasgow and the surrounding area a bit better.
We usually meet once a month and explore the great outdoors. The walks are not too strenuous and we try to make them as inclusive and eco-friendly as we can. We plan for comfort breaks and stops at cafes and travel by train where possible.
Walking and chatting with each other has helped us get to know one another better and sharing food and laughter is always part of the day.
Friday Prayer Group
For as long as anyone can remember, a group of local Christians has met here on Friday mornings to pray. Now a virtual group, several members of our congregation take time every Friday to continue this tradition, sharing prayers, hymns, and reflections with one another.
We pray for each other, we pray about what goes on in our church, we pray for sisters and brothers in Christ. We pray for Glasgow and its people, we pray for troubled places of the world. We pray for people who ask us to pray for them; a tree made out of fence wire in the foyer of the Centre invites people to write prayer requests on leaves, fix them to the tree, and we pray for them each week. We pray for peace, and our prayer times have often been blessed with a wonderful, surprising sense of Christ’s peace-giving presence.
We pray trusting in God’s love in Jesus Christ, not in our own words. We pray because Jesus told us to go to a quiet place, to ask as our Father knows what we are seeking before we even speak.

Warm Welcome Space
From Winter 2025, we will be hosting a Warm Welcome Space in the Oasis Cafe.
This Space will be launching on Wednesday 17th December and will run weekly from 11.30-1.30pm.
This is an outreach project as part of our Mission Plan to engage with our local community.
If you are in the area on Wednesday afternoons, please join us for free tea, coffee and biscuits, Wi-Fi, and a warm welcome!
We look forward to meeting you.
Choir
We have a small, but very enthusiastic, choir in our congregation, led by our Organist Gordon Cree.
They lead the singing of the hymns each Sunday morning, and additionally offer an introit every week to begin our worship together. On special occasions, they provide an anthem.
New members are always welcome. You do not have to read music – not all of our current number do. The choir rehearses every Sunday morning around 10am.

Eco-Congregation Group
We have been registered as an Eco-Congregation since 2015, and a Fairtrade place of worship since 2014.
In September 2017 we were awarded our first Eco-Congregation Award, and in the spring of 2018 received the Bronze Award. In achieving these awards we have been commended for the extent to which care for the earth has been integrated into the worship of the congregation, contacts developed with local groups, with Christian Aid and with a project in India, involving different groups in the congregation in environmental issues, and for the ongoing programme to replace lights in the church and halls with LEDs, along with secondary glazing.
Christian Aid Group
We have an active Christian Aid Group in our congregation.
Its members aim to promote the work of Christian Aid. This includes in the organisation of dedicated services, lunches, and dedicated events.
Our group was led for many years by the late Helen Hughes DCS, a much missed member of our church family. Helen’s passion to care for God’s creation was featured in a video produced by Christian Aid.
