History

The sanctuary we worship in was built in 1852 for an independent congregation in the gothic revival style, complete with a 180ft tall steeple. In 1873 it was given to the Church of Scotland for use as a parish church. The building was refurbished in 1969. Following a great storm in 1998 there was substantial damage to the spire, roof and floor. The building was restored, reopened and rededicated in 2001.

The adjoining Renfield Centre was built in 1968, incorporating halls, rooms, offices, and a chapel. It was refurbished and remodelled in 1994. It contains the offices of the Presbytery of Glasgow.

St Andrew’s West Parish Church came in to being in 2019 following a union of two congregations; Anderston Kelvingrove and Renfield St Stephen’s Parish Churches. The origins of these congregations can be traced to the mid 18th century.
